
Capitol Hill is the neighborhood located in the closest Southeast and Northeast section of Washington DC, near the Capitol building. It is the largest historic residential neighborhood in DC and is one of the oldest communities in Washington.
Capitol Hill is made up mostly of rowhouses built throughout the 19th century using many different styles. Some condo building also exist; comprised mostly of newly renovated old buildings, schools and a car barn as well as a very few new construction buildings. The average price of a property in the Capitol Hill neighborhood is just above $525,000.
The neighborhood is bounded by 14th Street to the East, F Street to the North, Capitol Street (and the US Capitol) to the East and Virginia Ave/I-295 to the South.
Union Station, Washington DC's main train station is located on the NW edge of Capitol Hill. Union Station runs Amtrak trains as well as both Virginia and Maryland commuter rail lines, and is filled with shops and restaurants. The Pennsylvania Ave corridor is also another main shopping/restaurant/bar area of Capitol Hill.
Capitol Hill is serviced by Metro at Union Station (Red Line) and Capitol South and Eastern Market (Blue & Orange Lines).
